British Cheese Scones Recipe! – April 28, 2016

Hello and welcome to a Thursday post! This is a recipe that my mom has had since she was my age and in school in England and i wanted to share British cheese scones!

INGREDIENTS:
-8 oz/ 227 grams of Flour (Preferably self-rising)
-2oz/ 57 grams of Butter (salted)
-2-3 oz/ 57-85 grams of Cheese
-1/4 pint of Milk or half and half
-2.5 teaspoons of baking powder (only if using all purpose flour!)
-1 egg
-a few pinches of Salt and Pepper (best with Cayenne pepper)

DIRECTIONS:
1- Put the oven to 425.
2-Mix flour, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add butter and mix using fingers until it resembles fine breadcrumbs and then add cheese. (If using all purpose flour, add the baking powder now!)
3-In another bowl, mix egg and milk/half and half.
4-Then, mix the egg and milk with the flour, salt, cheese, pepper, and butter.
5- Roll the dough and cut it with circular cutters. Place on tray and brush the top of the scones with egg and sprinkle a little more cheese. Then put it in the oven for 10-12 minutes and add butter on the top when out!
