Hello and welcome to a Monday post! This is a review and synopsis for a book i finished this morning, actually. I will warn you if there are any spoilers!
Genius: The Game – by: Leopoldo Gout
9/10 – This book was amazing! The plot was extraordinary and ver well-thought out. I only had a few problems in this book which are: A few editorial errors (ex: a characters name being said like this “‘Hello,’ Bob said,” but the chapter was from Bob’s perspective), i didn’t like that the end was a cliffhanger and the second book isn’t even being talked about, and that some of the twists were very predictable. I actually predicted the entire book from the second chapter.
/SYNOPSIS/ (no spoilers)
The LODGE is an illegal online club made by Rex, a 16 year old coder and occasional hacker who is powered by the disappearance of his brother, Tunde, a 14 year old self-taught engineer who brought internet to his remote Nigerian village, and Painted Wolf, an activist blogger who goes undercover to exploit the corruption in China and whose identity is unknown. On LODGE, they post programs, blueprints, and videos proving that some of the government leaders are not who they say they are. Then, Tunde receives a mysterious email from “The Game”, a competition between 200 of the smartest kids and teens in the world that was made by Kiran Biswas, India’s youngest CEO. Then Painted Wolf and Rex receive an email and they decide they have to go after a Nigerian General threatened the death and destruction Tunde, his family, and his village if he doesn’t win and make him a diabolical war weapon. They all, even Kiran, arrive at The Game with secrets of their own and when they come out, get ready to run.
I loved the concept of this book and the execution was amazing! The book is plot twist after plot twist until the actual last page. I liked that they also used younger people in the book instead of the usual Young Adult novel with 16-18 year olds. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone!
