Brush Fire In My Town! – July 14, 2016

Hello and welcome to a Thursday post! Here is the story of what happened yesterday:

So, yesterday was very eventful because the fam and i experienced our first California wildfire in our town! It was pretty freaky because my sister and i were swimming in the pool and this white stuff started falling into the pool. We thought it was from the trees and kept swimming. But then it starting falling more and more and i thought in my head, “That’s ash.” Just as my sister looked up and said, “Uh, Sophie? Look up.” I looked up and, sure enough, there was a huge cloud of smoke that was grey and white and orange. Since we back up to a mountain, it looked as if it was on the other side of it. We got out and there were no news reports or documentations of it so my mom, sister, and i drove around to try and see where it is. It was a few miles from our house, which we were glad about, but it did spread a lot, the fire being about 35-40 acres and burning 78 acres in all. We saw the smoke at around 4:00pm and it was fully contained by 9:30pm! Luckily, no structures or people were harmed. Here are some pictures:

Thanks for reading this post! I thought i would share this story so then i can look back on yesterday and remember, hopefully, the closest a brush or wildfire will ever get to our town again. Until next time,
