Hello and welcome to a Monday post! Today I’m going to be talking about the Harry Potter series, which I’m sure you are all familiar with; i have finally read it! So…
10/10! This is the first 100% book review in the history of my blog. I cannot believe that i haven’t read this series until now, but glad that i finally did. I thought the plot, characters, and everything, really, was fully developed and interesting to see unfold.
(since this is a 7 book series, I’m just going to brush over and ‘synopsisize’ it all!)
It all starts with an owl-delivered letter on Harry Potter’s eleventh birthday telling him he is to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He learns about a world that was unknown to him and learns he is famous for an event he doesn’t even remember. He also discovers that a mysterious and cruel “You-Know-Who” was who caused his parent’s deaths, and that he’s still out to find Harry and redeem himself. Starting in his first year and throughout every year until the seventh, Harry has near-deadly run-ins with Voldemort and narrowly escapes each with help of his friends. And, it all comes down to one night, to one battle, to one duel in the very last installment of the series to reveal which wizard is stronger, and the determine the fate of the entire Wizarding and Muggle worlds alike.
I loved every single character in this book. They were (mostly) fully developed and had back-stories and “ties” into the main plot of destroying Voldemort. My favorite characters have to be, on the good side, Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom, Sirius Black, Albus Dumbledore, and Luna Lovegood. My favorite characters on the bad side, however cruel (or portrayed to be), where Bellatrix Lestrange and Severus Snape, though it is discovered that he is a good guy in the end.
I actually did not find one plot hole, or a piece of the plot that either didn’t make sense or just not include something it needed or required. I thought that even scenes like the Malfoy Manor and horrible chapters like that were necessary for (A) character development and (B) plot development.
(since this is a monstrous series, i have chosen just one out of many)
“We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are.” (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, by Sirius Black)
I thought that this series was absolutely amazing and has left me with a longing to see this world with my own eyes, like all good books do. If you haven’t, i would recommend that you read it at the first possible moment!
Thank you for reading and come back for more random posts! Until next time,
